I decided to create a business in which is a tattoo company. This allowed me to be able to make a more powerful and eye-catching business card. The name of my business is called ‘Neon’ which I believe is a relevant name for a tattoo business as people generally express body art with lots of colour which is what neon is; colour. For the design I decided to use a colour tint in which I was able to experiment to see what colours looked good and worked best for what I was trying to achieve.
The reason I chose the colour I did was because I think that the colours really stands out and that’s what I want to achieve as I want something that’s going to be very eye catching and draw you in as that means that the design is well thought out and clear.
One the back of the card I have chosen to use a block colour of yellow against the typography which is in purple. These colours bounce off each other which really stands out.
The image that I choose to use was a picture I had taken of a glass skull. I believed this would be a relevant picture to use as tattoos are something that goes onto the body and most people associate skulls to do with tattoos. I decided to have the image so that it didn’t quite fit into the frame as I believed this is more eye-catching as you have to look at it to work out what the image is.
For the typography, I decided to do a graffiti style in which was all in Capitals which gave the effect of it being a statement, I believe has been achieved. The lettering I designed are all hand drawn and different slightly meaning in sharpness and curviness but I have tried to achieve this graffiy idea by using thick lines as well as thin lines and some random features such as added lines which have been incorporated into the design. I then decided to position the text away from the image as I thought that the image has a lot going on and therefore it would be too in-your-face and hard to concentrate on. By having this separate from the image it means that it could be considered more thought out and organised and therefore a lot easier to see.
The back of the card is where the information is, I have decided to put the information on the back for the reason that I have already discussed which is that there is too much going on and therefore by adding more text means that the design would be overcrowded and therefore the image would lose all purpose. By having the text on the back it is also a lot easier to see as the writing stands out up against the bright yellow background. The information I have provided is my name, my job title, my number, email and address of the business. I believe that these are all needed and relevant when referring to a business card.

Here is some designs for branding a nightclub. Here you can see the stages of progress and the options.

'freedom'
'Freedom' was a title I was given for my Alevels, to which I decided to create an organic cerial brand to which I then had to create the product and packaging.
